No, I Don't Think I Am Greedy

bismillah Pictures, Images and Photos

"Don't let the opinions of the average man sway you. Dream, and he thinks you're crazy. Succeed, and he thinks you're lucky. Acquire wealth, and he thinks you're greedy. Pay no attention. He simply doesn't understand." Robert G. Allen

5 years back, when I have decided to take Maybank scholarship although I knew my job scope wasn't going to be the same with my study background, many friends said that I went for money. The answer was yes. I didn't get JPA scholarship, I need financial assistance to pay my study and book fees.

Allah Never Make Things With No Reason

Few months ago when I have decided to do private tuition, many people think that my salary doesn't pay me enough. Now this time, my answer is NO. It is entirely not about money. It is about passion. I enjoy teaching since I was a little girl. Right after SPM I taught my cousin few PMR subjects and in matriculation, I was a tutor to my classmates. To me, there is never enough in seeking knowledge; even a standard one subject can give you a big impact. I didn't hesitate when I was offered to teach at Maths Clinic, Cheras Branch because I know this would be a big experience for me. Thinking about it back, its location to my house is quite far and if I compare the allowance with the petrols,  the toll charge and etc, it wouldn't be worth it financially. But I believe many of you would agree with me: Learning is the beginning of wealth. Learning is the beginning of health. Learning is the beginning of spirituality. Searching and learning is where the miracle process all begins.

I didn't say the stuffs that I have learnt for 4 years in university, were useless. Health and science are something that is practically used in life. Everything you speak is science. Everything you live with will be related to health. But in the place where I am working right now, I am gaining extra. I am learning to control myself, physically and mentally. I am brushing up my communication, my decision making skill and also I am hoping to improve my personality and attitude. Also, other skills as well i.e. I have figured that how interesting microsoft is, it can really challenge your skill and you can do almost anything with microsoft. The founder, Bill Gates is a total 'lagendary'. So the decision I have made 5 years back, at first was due to money problem, turned out to be fruitful for me. Praise to none other than Allah Himself.

This post is totally not about me bragging around on how ambitious and positive I am. My message is, no matter what you do to gain extra money..people may see you as greedy, but trust me, you know yourself more than anyone else. As long as the syari'e is not being violated, you are what you think you are.=)

Malaysia vs Mauritius. Maybe We Can Learn From Them?

bismillah Pictures, Images and Photos

I have plans to travel all around the world. In 5 years time, I wish to go to Mauritius. Well some of you may think that it's quite long to wait, but I have a lot of expanses that I need to deal with since I started working, (plus I sure want to do my Umrah before travelling to other places) so I have to start saving for this big 'project'. hehe. I have been studying about Mauritus quite sometime. For those who doesn't know, it is located in the Indian Ocean, southeast cost of Africa.

The Strategies That Wowed Me

Well anyway, today's post is not about Mauritius. If you want to know more about what's interesting in Mauritius, you may do some googling for it.=) Just now, while I was reading this week's 'The Edge', I have came across an article by Prof Joseph E Stiglitz, a professor in Columbia University and a Nobel laureate in economics. Mauritius, is neither particularly rich nor on its way to budgetary ruin. Nonetheless, it has spent the last decades successfuly building a diverse economy, a democratic political system and a strong social safety net. Here are two points captured on Mauritius success stories that we may want to rather learn from:

1. Unlike us: that's very popular with our own crude oil, Mauritians have no exploitable natural resources. So they are their own asset. You can find free education up to university for all of the citizens, transport for schoolchildren and free healthcare, including heart surgery for all, there, at Mauritius. It is not whether we can afford to provide free healthcare or education for all, but it is actually about how to organize the society.

2. Apparently, Mauritians also believe that spending a lot of money for military is a waste. While we have a lot (millions of RM spent for millitary submarines) of 'submarine warfare', Mauritious thinks that defense systems are not all about spending.

Mauritians have increased per capita income from less than US$400 around the time of independence to more than US$6,700 (RM20, 470) today

But Not Everyone Is Perfect

This is not to say that Mauritius is without problems:

1. Its worries today is on imported food and energy inflation. So some intervention i.e. stabilising prudential banking regulations is being considered.

2. US until now, still occupies one of Mauritius offshore islands, Diego Garcia, as a naval base without compensation, officially leasing it from UK; expelled its citizens and refuses to allow them to return. This is totally a violation of international law.

Well, this post may bore some people, but I hope it could add to our knowledge on economy and growth.=)

"Wanie do you know that there's a big disasterous tsunami in Japan??. Oh my God..this time it's really-really big! Kak Sila called me just now and told me that she was shocked to hear the news"
11th March 2011, 3.30pm

I was in a midst of arranging big meetings for next week when i heard the news from Pushpa (my colleague). Is this world going to end soon? Alllah Almighty, this is one of your signs.

But Alhamdulillah, my aunt's family together with her ragdoll cat are fine in Osaka. I hope they won't be affected by the tsunami. My friends in Miyagi are also safe...

i Understand

bismillah Pictures, Images and Photos

Although hidden, it still holds very noticeable vibration. It can affect the mind as well as controlling the action. Seriously, love can change bitter to sweet, moving dust to gold, cloudy to clear, sickness to be healed..It can change the prison into a very nice mansion, the pain we feel becomes pleasure, and our anger will turn  into mercy. It is so powerful that it could soften the metal, destroying coral reefs, raise the dead, and breathed life into a man and make a leader. (Jalaludin Rumi)

.....And i Know Whatever Happens, There's Always Faith Along My Way

Please note that i do not capitalized the word 'I'..lowercase of i shows the feminism side of me, it is written purely on emotions. i am emotional now. T_T
